Thrifting Matters More Than Ever

The fashion industry produces far more clothing than we can use—and most of it doesn’t get a second chance. Millions of garments are discarded each year, with only a small portion recycled or reused. The rest often ends up in landfills or is shipped elsewhere with uncertain outcomes.

Thrifting and resale interrupt this cycle. When clothing is resold, it stays in use longer, reducing the demand for new production and keeping wearable items out of the waste stream. Each resale extends a garment’s life and preserves the resources already spent to make it.
Not every item donated is reused, which makes thoughtful thrifting even more important. Choosing well-made pieces, caring for them, and passing them on when you’re done helps create a slower, more circular fashion system.
Resale isn’t just about finding something unique—it’s about giving value to what already exists. Small choices, repeated over time, can shift how fashion moves through the world.
